Partnerships lead to successful mapping updates

We’re glad to partner with many great organizations throughout Ohio. And we’re happy to report these partnerships are mutually beneficial.

Our sincere thanks go out to our partners who have provided us with broadband service data. Because of your help, we have added technology type and layers that better show connectivity data to our existing BroadbandStat mapping service. This data has proven to be helpful for prospective customers who can now find service providers at their home address.

Inquires from consumers help us identify new areas where aggregated demand may justify new and productive investments. And our mission is for this information to lead to increased
broadband adoption across the state. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.

We’re planning biannual mapping and data updates in the future, so bookmark our BroadbandStat Web site. It’s a service that will continue to improve the lives of Ohioans and produce valuable results for our partners. Contact our office at info@connectohio.org with any questions or suggestions you may have about BroadbandStat. We value your input.

New state-wide broadband research available Friday

We’re looking forward to presenting the state’s new Residential Technology Assessment results Friday during our quarterly Technology Association meeting in Columbus.

This research, which was completed in compliance with state and NTIA requirements, presents an up-to-date look at state-wide technology, broadband availability and adoption numbers as well as online activities.

We’re optimistic about the results and what they mean for Ohio’s economic future, as increases in broadband adoption means additional jobs, reduced health care costs, fewer miles driven by state residents, cleaner air and better access to goods and services.

We will share them with you as soon as they are officially released.

Adoption and availability components included in FCC broadband plan

The Federal Communications Commission’s National Broadband Plan contains an effort to increase availability of high-speed Internet and broadband adoption throughout the country.

According to the plan, all broadband access should provide Americans with sufficient download speeds, the necessary resources to obtain computer skills and the importance of implementation of affordable broadband service.

The FCC has set forth a goal of 90 percent adoption to be achieved by the year 2020. More than 60 percent of households currently have high-speed Internet. This is an achievable goal and Connect Ohio will do its part in making this a reality.

Small towns and rural communities across Ohio are the cradle of the best American ingenuity, potential and values. Without sufficient broadband access and a high level of technology adoption, these communities and their residents will remain technologically and economically isolated from today’s digital world.

Connect Ohio has been utilizing eCommunity Leadership Teams to impact adoption in counties across the state. Working directly with local county teams, we're assisting in the development and execution of comprehensive technology growth plans that already has provided a jump start in providing rural areas in Ohio with high-speed Internet access.
